Realtors - let’s talk the ones that got away!
Not the ones who move forward smoothly—the pre-approved, ready-to-go, clients you connected with. No, I’m talking about the ghosters, the skeptics, the ones who vanish into thin air after a pre-approval call, never to be heard from again.
You know the type. You send them to your lender, and suddenly, poof—they disappear. Maybe they didn’t like the rate. Maybe they didn’t trust the process. Maybe the lender rubbed them the wrong way.
But here’s the real problem… those lost leads aren’t always unqualified. They’re just human. And humans don’t connect with everyone.
The Reality: Not Every Buyer Connects with You. Or Your Lender.
Over 30 years in sales, I’ve learned a hard truth: you can’t please everyone. In fact, after working with thousands of buyers across real estate, gold, and finance, I’d argue that there are about ten distinct buyer personalities—and no one, no matter how good they are, can connect with all ten.
I know my strengths. There are six personality types I click with instantly—people who trust me, work with me, and become lifelong clients. But what about the other four? That’s where sales are lost. That’s where money could be left on the table. However, I learned that it is better to get half of a deal, rather than no deal, so I'm always eager to bring on another voice.
And guess what? It’s the same for you. You probably don’t mesh with every single buyer you talk to. And here’s the kicker—neither does your lender.
So when a lead hesitates, resists, or shuts down, what happens?
Most of the time… nothing.
Those leads get tossed aside, written off as a waste of time. But what if they’re not? What if they just need a different conversation?
